Giant Man-Eating Catfish Caught in China?

These images, reported to be gigantic catfish that was caught in a lake in Southern China, have been swirling around the Chinese internet for the last couple months. Those spreading the image claim that the 3-meter long fish may have eaten several swimmers who had disappeared in recent years. It sounds outlandish, but why not examine the pictures before deciding if it’s a fake?

Looks a hell of a lot like a whale shark to me. What do you think?

Es un tiburon ballena.Solo comen krill.Y es una verguenza llamarlo "devorahombres", cuando claramente lo que esta ocurriendo es lo contrario.. It�s a whale shark,yes. They only eat krill. And it�s a shame to call it "man-eater", when clearly ,what�s happening its the opposite thing...

This is called Butanding (our term for whale-shark in Philippines). They are one of the most gentle animals youll ever encounter. They are not afraid of people. Most butandings in our are has injuries in their tails and bodies because they swim too close to the boats propeller.

Whale Shark: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whale_shark The whale shark is a filter feeder..not a man eater. They live in the Ocean not fresh water lakes.
